According to her, she learned about it from Timur Tumgoev himself. He said that this was used to make him testify against a Chechen who is fighting against a pro-Russian separatists in the Donbas. About this situation, Tumgoev told his sister, while in the Pyatigorsk remand prison, where he was taken for further transfer to Rostov-on-Don. According to Marina Tumgoeva, Timur refused to cooperate with the investigation and refuses to testify. In the North Caucasus District Military Court in the coming days, the trial of Tumgoev, which is charged under three articles of the Russian criminal code, will begin, two of them provide for up to 20 years in prison. This is part 2 of Article 205.5 – participation in the activities of an organization that, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, is recognized as terrorist, and also Article 205.3 – training in order to carry out terrorist activities. The Federal Security Service claims that Tumgoev was during 2014 – 2016 in Syria and fought against the forces of the Assad regime as part of one of the groups that was recognized as terrorist in Russia. Tumgoev denies any involvement in the fighting in Syria. According to him, at that time he lived in Turkey. Marina Tumgoeva noted, referring to a lawyer, that according to the total number of articles incriminated to Tumgoev, he will be sentenced to more than 15 years in prison.

A prisoner of one of the transit prisons of the North Caucasus region, who asked not to be named, with reference to Tumgoev, told to the VAYFOND that in September 2018, in the process of extradition, he was beaten by the officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. His mouth, hands and feet were taped with duct tape, they put a certificate of a combatant in his pocket (against pro-Russian separatists in the Donbas) and handed over to the Federal Security Service officers on the border with Russia. “At the same time, the officer of the Security Service of Ukraine named Arthur was especially zealous, threatened to send other muhajiruns to Russia,” said a source. Subsequently, Tumgoev was severely beaten by the officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Belgorod remand prison.
