IN KHARKOV, OFFICERS OF THE SECURITY SERVICE OF UKRAINE DETAINED TAJIK WANTED ON INTERPOL REQUEST

In Kharkov, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a student of one of the Islamic universities in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abdukodir Nosirov. He was detained while leaving the Dzerzhinsky District Court, which made the decision to release Nosirov, ordering the consideration of the prosecutor’s application for his arrest on 21 December due to the absence of an advocate. The detainee was brought to the building of the regional department of the Security Service of Ukraine, where he was held without a detention registration, and then transferred to police officers.

The detainee refused the services of an advocate within the program of free legal assistance at the expense of the state. On 14 December, he was detained by officers of the Ukrainian police as a person wanted by Interpol at the request of the Tajik special services. He is suspected of making appeals for extremist activities (Part 1, Article 370 of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan). The arrest warrant was issued by the court of the Khatlon Region of Tajikistan.

According to one of Nosirov’s fellow countrymen residing in Ukraine, upon one of his visits to the homeland, Nosirov was accused of belonging to the “salafiya” movement, which is banned in Tajikistan. “After that, he went to Saudi, came to Ukraine in September, and was detained during this visit, because it turned out he had been wanted,” a friend of the detainee said.

Another fellow countryman said that after 15 years of study in Saudi Arabia, Nosirov was graduating a Masters course at a university in Riyadh. “Fellow countrymen confirmed that they knew him, waited for him; he should have come soon, everyone said only good things about him,” the fellow countryman noted.

The 34-year-old native of Kurganteppa, Kodirov, arrived in Ukraine in October by the Riyadh-Dubai-Kiev flight and passed border controls without hindrance.
